In 2002, Pink performed at West Hollywood Halloween Parade…
Setlist:
This series examines the photographers who exhibited at the Leica Galerie at photokina 2014. The focus of this year’s exhibition concept was on impressive photography from the world of music. It embraces all facets of music photography, and today we’re featuring the work of Letanguerrant who gives us a look on stage and behind-the-scenes of singer P!nk’s tour. Read on for more information about his work, exhibit, and insight.
Letanguerrant is a cosmopolitan. Born in Halifax, Canada, in 1963, he only spent the first three months of his life there. As a photographer, musician, and dancer, he has been traveling his whole life. He lived in Paris for 15 years, but has also lived in New York, Montreal, Miami, Vancouver, and Melbourne. For the last eight years he has been based in Los Angeles .
Letanguerrant has been working in the music scene for over three decades, and the list of names he has toured with is long: Prince, Sting, Sade, Céline Dion, Cher, Mariah Carey, Sinéad O’Connor, Moby, and Seal, to name a few. However, his closest relationship is with P!nk. He has been accompanying and getting to know her like few others for the past two years. “P!nk is one of the best performers and singers I’ve ever seen. She’s one of the hardest workers I’ve ever met, she gives 200% to her work – all the time,” the photographer, who admits to being one of her greatest fans, says enthusiastically. It is no surprise then that the photographer has taken such unique pictures of the artist. The apparent ease seen in the images belies the complexity of the photographer’s work. “Shooting ‘live’ conditions isn’t easy, because the lights change all the time – and their intensity as well. I have to change my settings constantly. The band moves all the time, especially P!nk; she’s always running around on stage. One second she’s here, a second later she’s somewhere else.” Letanguerrant is concerned about the authenticity of his pictures, so he does not use Photoshop. The photographer and his camera (whether a Leica M, M9 or M2) are one entity. “I look at something or someone and all I think about is how I can make it look in a picture.”
Q: What image is your favorite in this gallery and why?
A: This image of the drummer Mark Schulman is the one I like best. I like this picture because it is shot live and we can see the effect that the Noctilux 50 mm does at 0.95. I love that bokeh effect and that’s exactly why I got the lens. It gives a mystic effect and it’s not the traditional live picture that we usually see.
Q: What, if anything, do you hope the viewer sees or gains when looking at these images?
A: Usually, photographers who work on live shows always use DSLR cameras. I think it’s a good thing for Leica to show these pictures and show people that Leica M cameras can do a great job in live conditions with extra low lights and a lot of movements on stage.
Thank you for your time, Letanguerrant!

Carey Hart was born on July 17, 1975 in Seal Beach, California and grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Hart is one of the most recognized names in all of freestyle Motocross. His father bought him his first motocross bike when he was only four years old in hopes of spending some quality time with his son. However, what had originally started as a father and son pastime quickly turned into Carey’s passion. By the time he entered his first local race as an amateur, he was hooked and by high school graduation, he was a professional Motocross rider, racing AMA Supercross circuit.
Soon thereafter, Carey grew bored with Supercross and started riding with a group of guys who were interested in a more creative and expressive form of Motocross. In 1998, the Freestyle motocross movement was born with Carey leading the way. From the sport’s inception, Carey has been one of the most innovative riders in the sport.
He is the inventor of the ‘Hart Attack’, and at the 2000 Gravity Games Carey etched his name in the record books as the first rider ever to complete a back flip on a 250cc motorcycle. The back flip
Hart also has his own film directed by Jonny Vegas “Good times with Carey Hart” The film tells the true life story of Hart’s amazing career and how he accomplished the unimaginable back flip, and how he elevated his sport like few in history have!
Carey has travelled the globe on a quest to put freestyle Motocross on the map. Along the way he has jumped the trailer park in Kid Rock’s video “Bawitdaba” and saw his dream to play bass with the band Pennywise come true on the 2000 Australian Warped Tour and appeared in P!nks ‘Just Like A Pill’ and ‘So What’ videos. His popularity has helped increase exposure for the sport of Motocross.
He has been featured in nationwide ad campaigns for Ford, Dunkin Dougnuts, Fox, DVS and Mountain Dew as well as in such print publications as Paper Magazine, Teen People, EXPN The Magazine, Rolling Stone, Prick, Skinnie and has graced the covers of numerous Motocross & tattoo magazines.
Carey has also starred on Inked, MTVs Life Of Ryan, The Late Show with David Letterman acatapulted Carey, and Freestyle Motocross as a whole, to an entirely new level. The stunt got the world’s attention; it was even featured on Ripley’s Believe It or Not He has starred in ESPN/Touchstone Pictures’ IMAX film, Ultimate X and has cameo appearances in Columbia Pictures’ XXX and Touchstone Pictures’ Charlie’s Angels II & Carey was cast in the VH1 reality show The Surreal Life.
In 2004 Carey’s passion for tattoos turned into a business venture. Teaming up with fellow entrepreneur, John Huntington, Hart & Huntington Tattoo Company opened their doors in the prestigious Palms Casino, Las Vegas. This move lead to another TV opportunity for Carey when the A&E network decided to follow him and the workings of the shop in their own reality show: Inked.
Since then, Hart has taken over 100% of the company as seen on Inked. Three more Hart and Huntington Tattoo shops have opened: Honolulu, Cabo San Lucas and Orlando at Universal Citywalk. Carey also expanded into making a quality clothing line based on the designs of the talented artists that work at Hart and Huntington Tattoo Company.
Even with all of Carey’s business ventures, he still finds time to dedicate to his first passion supermoto, Hart & Huntington Tattoo/Rockstar Supermoto Team. There is no denying Carey’s dedication and passion. He has suffered his share of injuries attempting new tricks, Carey has broken over 63 bones in his body however like a cat with nine lives, he continues to bounce back and he does it all in the name of progression.

Since 1999, Pink has been showing the world what a real musician looks like. From performing to sold out stadiums, swinging from the air (while singing live) in arenas, to small, sweaty club shows, Pink has pretty much done it all. As well as singing and dancing, she can also act, is involved in several charities, while also finding the time to be a wife and mother. I’ve created a list of what I think are her defining moments, putting them in order was difficult, so don’t take the order to seriously. Enjoy the list, and please, if you are reposting/sharing etc, credit @PinkHistory and this website.
25. Debut album release (2000)
Pink released her debut album, Can’t Take Me Home, under LaFace Records in 2000. The album produced three singles (There You Go, Most Girls & You Make Me Sick). Pink admitted that during the period of promoting this album she felt stifled, as it was not reflective of her true musical ambitions. At this time, I was about 13 years old, I was going through an R&B phase musically and listening to a lot of TLC. I then discovered Pink and have never looked back! (Although I am glad the R&B style has mostly been ditched, I’m more of a rock fan now!!)
24. Animal Charity Work – Stolen For Fashion
Pink is a prominent campaigner for PETA. She teamed up with PETA and Ricky Gervais for the Stolen For Fashion campaign. “Animals are being robbed! But this duo won’t take it lying down. Watch as one loveable alligator and one feisty rabbit confront the fashion victims who stole their skins in “Stolen for Fashion,” featuring the voices of Pink and Ricky Gervais!” – http://features.peta.org/StolenForFashion/
23. The Brit Awards (2003)
Over the years Pink has been nominated 8 times for the Brit Awards, and in 2003 she won the award for “Best International Female Solo Artist”
22. MTV ICON: Janet Jackson (2001)
In 2001, Pink showed off her dance moves when she performed a dance medley at MTV ICON: Janet Jackson with Mya and Usher
21. Dear Mr President
Pink has described Dear Mr President as one of the most important songs she has ever written, and here is why: the track, featuring Indigo Girls and from Pink’s fourth album I’m Not Dead, is an open letter to the former president of the United States George W. Bush. The song quizzes Bush on subjects such as the Iraq War, homelessness and gay rights.
20. The Greatest Hits… so Far! (2010)
In 2010, Pink released her first greatest hits album in celebration of 10 years on the music scene. The album included four new tracks and produced two singles. Originally Pink was against the idea of releasing a greatest hits album, she “was not inspired at all for this album… I always figured you need to be 60 or better, to have a little more past, to put one of these out. I fought it for years.” However she changed her mind as she wanted it done her way and eventually she “started to feel a little proud”
19. MTV ICON: Aerosmith (and other works with Steven Tyler)
For Pink’s 2001 album, Missundaztood, the one and only Steven Tyler (Aerosmith’s front man) provided guest vocals on the song Misery. They have performed several times together (and I really wish they would record more tracks together!!). In 2002, Pink performed Janie’s Got a Gun on MTV ICON: Aerosmith. It still remains one of my favourite performances by her.
18. Thanks For Sharing
Directed by Stuart Blumberg, Thanks For Sharing is the 2013 movie starring Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins, Gwyneth Paltrow, Josh Gad… and Alecia Moore! Set in New York City, it follows the lives of people undergoing a 12-step process to recover from sex addiction. Although this wasn’t Pink’s first acting role (remember Catacombs?), Pink’s role in Thanks For Sharing was widely praised. Dan Callahan writes about her performance saying “Of all the cast here, the least experienced is the pop singer Pink, yet she does the best acting in the film: natural, a little harsh, a little unstable. Pink… knows instinctively how to behave on camera by just pretending that the camera isn’t there.”
17. So What… first solo number one on the Billboard Hot 100 (2008)
So What became Pink’s first solo number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2008 when it was released as the lead single from the album Funhouse.
16. MTV VMA Sober Performance 2009
Pink performed Sober at the MTV VMA 2009, while doing a trapeze act (like on the Funhouse tour) during the entire performance while singing live. The following day, MTV posted a poll on their website for people to vote for the best performance of the night, which Pink won.
15. T Mobile Advert, London (2009)
If you have followed this website for a while now, you will have already read about my experience at this event. In 2009, Pink surprised Trafalgar Square with a special appearance at the filming of the T Mobile sing-along advert
14. Try Music Video (2012)
Pink has stated that the music video for Try is one of the most beautiful music videos of her career. “Making this video was the most fun I’ve ever had in my entire career,” said Pink. “I never wanted it to end. It’s my favorite video ever.” Pink took to her Twitter page to record her mother, Judith’s, reaction after showing her the risqué dance moves on the clip. “My mom, after seeing the new video… ‘Wow, honey. I’m speechless. And uncomfortable. No one can ever say you play it safe.'” Pink’s love interest is played by Broadway dancer Colt Prattes.
13. The Truth About Love – first number one album (2012)
In the United States, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 281,000 copies in its first week becoming her first number one album there.
12. Lady Marmalade wins a Grammy! (2002)
In 2002, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Mya & Lil’ Kim won the Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for Lady Marmalade.
11. Breaking records in Australia, and a P!nk bathroom (2009)
In 2009, Pink played a total of 58 shows on the Funhouse tour in Australia. 17 of these shows were at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, breaking John Farnham’s record for most shows at the venue during one tour. To congratulate Pink on eleven sold out concerts at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, the artist was given a public toilet located on the upper level of the arena, entitled “P!nk Ladies”.

10. Marriage to Carey Hart (2006)
I wasn’t going to add the personal events to this list, but as a lot of songs are wrote about or for Carey, it only seemed right to include this! In 2005, Pink proposed to Carey Hart during one of his races. In early 2006 they got married in Costa Rica.
9. I’m Not Dead album (2006)
Pink’s ‘comeback’ album was released in April 2006, three years after her last album Try This (2003). The album produced six singles (Stupid Girls, Who Knew, U + Ur Hand, Nobody Knows, Dear Mr President & Leave Me Alone (I’m Lonely)). “It’s about being alive and feisty and not sitting down and shutting up even though people would like you to.”
8. MTV Video Music Awards (2002)
This will forever be my favourite award show that Pink attended. She performed Just Like a Pill, looked like a bad ass, and did that famous “I’m too drunk for this” speech when she won the award for the best female video. In fact it was so good, I’ll post two videos for this one…
7. CoverGirl (2012)
In 2012, Pink became the new face for make up brand CoverGirl.
6. The Grammy Awards 2004
At the 2004 Grammy Awards, Pink won a Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for the 2003 single, Trouble.
5. Pink announces her pregnancy on The Ellen Show (2010)
In November 2010, Pink announced that she was pregnant with her first child on The Ellen Show.
4. The Grammy Awards 2010 – Glitter In The Air Performance
It seemed like the whole world woke up to Pink’s talents when she performed Glitter in the Air at The Grammys in 2010, wearing a bodysuit and doing aerial acrobatics (similar to those of the Funhouse and The Truth About Love tour). The performance was deemed the best of the ceremony, and the audience greeted her with a standing ovation. Because of the success of the performance, it was then released as a digital download single.
3. Breaking more records in Australia on The Truth About Love tour (2013)
Pink broke her own record in Australia in 2013, by playing 18 sold out shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on The Truth About Love tour. She is also the first artist to sell more than 250,000 tickets at the venue. In August 2013, Pink was rewarded a plaque backstage, a second pink pole, a star at the venue’s entrance and Door 18 was painted pink.
2. The Oscars (2014)
The 86th Academy Awards, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, took place in March 2014. Pink performed Over the Rainbow from the film Wizard of Oz.
1. Billboard Woman of the Year (2013)
In 2013, Pink was named Billboard’s Woman of the Year, after one of her most successful era’s to date, after a number one album, successful singles and a worldwide tour. In announcing the award, Bill Werde, Billboard’s editorial director, said, “Pink has almost been in a class by herself among women in music this year, and we’re thrilled to recognize her successes by honoring her with the Billboard Woman of the Year Award.”

Text taken from the ‘About’ section of this website
On This Day in PinkHistory… 20th March 2006, Stupid Girls was released in the UK
Tagged as Pink’s ‘comeback’ single, Stupid Girls was released as the first single from Pink’s forth album, I’m Not Dead, in the UK on 20th March 2006 (February in USA). [B-side: Heartbreaker]
It peaked at number four on the UK singles chart, becoming Pink’s highest charting single in the UK since Feel Good Time in 2003.
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling said on her official website that “Stupid Girls is the antidote-anthem for everything I had been thinking about women and thinness”
The music video was directed by Dave Meyers and premiered on MTV’s broadband channel Overdrive in January 2006. Pink shot the video at the same time as U + Ur Hand before a decision was made about what the first single should be. Pink described the video as “sick and twisted and insane” and said of Meyers, “He has an insane imagination. I don’t think everyone else is going to laugh, but just know that we all did.” Pink did her own stunts for the video.
Characters:
The video shows Pink as an angel and a demon who try to influence the future of a young girl. The angel shows her a series of images demonstrating the stupidity of current trends in female celebrity, and the images feature Pink in various roles, including a dancer in a 50 Cent video, a girl attempting to attract the attention of an instructor at the gym, a girl who uses her emergency inflatable breasts at a bowling alley, a girl at a tanning salon, a girl with purging disorder who considers calories “so not sexy”, an old woman in a pink tracksuit who looks as if she is trying too hard to look young, a girl getting plastic surgery, a girl making a sex tape, a girl washing her car and rubbing a facecloth and soap all over herself, and a girl who goes into what looks like a pet shop, buys an “itsy bitsy doggy” with the advertisement that it “stays younger longer”, and drives her car so carelessly while putting on makeup that she runs over two people. Pink also plays characters meant to represent the opposite of “stupid girls”, such as a female president and a girl winning a game of football. The video ends with the girl choosing a football (fitness), a computer (work), books (knowledge and adequate education), dance shoes (love), and a keyboard (leisure) over makeup (vanity) and a set of dolls (children) as she wants a normal life and the images are too overwhelming for her; the demon is defeated.
Some of the negatively portrayed characters in the video are parodies of young female celebrities such as Mary-Kate Olsen, who provides the basis for the Boho-chic dressing style of the girl who visits a Fred Segal clothing store. The redheaded girl who accidentally hits pedestrians with her car is a parody of Lindsay Lohan. The scene in which Pink washes a car in a bikini is a parody of similar scenes in the video for Jessica Simpson’s “These Boots Are Made for Walkin‘” (2005)and a 2005 Carl’s Jr. television commercial featuring Paris Hilton. The digital video shots showing Pink in bed with a man parallel those in the Paris Hilton sex tape 1 Night in Paris. The scene where Pink portrays a blonde coming into a bathroom throwing up food in order to be skinny (portraying bulimia) is reported to be portraying Nicole Richie. Towards the end in the video, a middle-aged woman with leathery skin appears next to a hot pink Honda S2000, which is exactly the same car driven by Devon Aoki in the film 2 Fast 2 Furious.
