Since 1999, Pink has been showing the world what a real musician looks like. From performing to sold out stadiums, swinging from the air (while singing live) in arenas, to small, sweaty club shows, Pink has pretty much done it all. As well as singing and dancing, she can also act, is involved in several charities, while also finding the time to be a wife and mother. I’ve created a list of what I think are her defining moments, putting them in order was difficult, so don’t take the order to seriously. 25. Debut album release (2000)
Pink released her debut album, Can’t Take Me Home, under LaFace Records in 2000. The album produced three singles (There You Go, Most Girls & You Make Me Sick). Pink admitted that during the period of promoting this album she felt stifled, as it was not reflective of her true musical ambitions. At this time, I was about 13 years old, I was going through an R&B phase musically and listening to a lot of TLC. I then discovered Pink and have never looked back! (Although I am glad the R&B style has mostly been ditched, I’m more of a rock fan now!!)

24. Animal Charity Work – Stolen For Fashion
Pink is a prominent campaigner for PETA. She teamed up with PETA and Ricky Gervais for the Stolen For Fashion campaign. “Animals are being robbed! But this duo won’t take it lying down. 23. The Brit Awards (2003)
Over the years Pink has been nominated 8 times for the Brit Awards, and in 2003 she won the award for “Best International Female Solo Artist”

22. MTV ICON: Janet Jackson (2001)
In 2001, Pink showed off her dance moves when she performed a dance medley at MTV ICON: Janet Jackson with Mya and Usher

21. Dear Mr President
Pink has described Dear Mr President as one of the most important songs she has ever written, and here is why: the track, featuring Indigo Girls and from Pink’s fourth album I’m Not Dead, is an open letter to the former president of the United States George W. Bush. The song quizzes Bush on subjects such as the Iraq War, homelessness and gay rights.


20. The Greatest Hits… so Far! (2010)
In 2010, Pink released her first greatest hits album in celebration of 10 years on the music scene. The album included four new tracks and produced two singles. Originally Pink was against the idea of releasing a greatest hits album, she “was not inspired at all for this album… I always figured you need to be 60 or better, to have a little more past, to put one of these out. I fought it for years.” However she changed her mind as she wanted it done her way and eventually she “started to feel a little proud”

19. MTV ICON: Aerosmith (and other works with Steven Tyler)
For Pink’s 2001 album, Missundaztood, the one and only Steven Tyler (Aerosmith’s front man) provided guest vocals on the song Misery. They have performed several times together (and I really wish they would record more tracks together!!). In 2002, Pink performed Janie’s Got a Gun on MTV ICON: Aerosmith. It still remains one of my favourite performances by her.

18. Thanks For Sharing
Directed by Stuart Blumberg, Thanks For Sharing is the 2013 movie starring Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins, Gwyneth Paltrow, Josh Gad… and Alecia Moore! Set in New York City, it follows the lives of people undergoing a 12-step process to recover from sex addiction. Although this wasn’t Pink’s first acting role (remember Catacombs?), Pink’s role in Thanks For Sharing was widely praised. Dan Callahan writes about her performance saying “Of all the cast here, the least experienced is the pop singer Pink, yet she does the best acting in the film: natural, a little harsh, a little unstable. Pink… knows instinctively how to behave on camera by just pretending that the camera isn’t there.”

17. So What… first solo number one on the Billboard Hot 100 (2008)
So What became Pink’s first solo number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2008 when it was released as the lead single from the album Funhouse.

16. MTV VMA Sober Performance 2009
Pink performed Sober at the MTV VMA 2009, while doing a trapeze act (like on the Funhouse tour) during the entire performance while singing live. The following day, MTV posted a poll on their website for people to vote for the best performance of the night, which Pink won.

15. T Mobile Advert, London (2009)
If you have followed this website for a while now, you will have already read about my experience at this event. In 2009, Pink surprised Trafalgar Square with a special appearance at the filming of the T Mobile sing-along advert


14. Try Music Video (2012)
Pink has stated that the music video for Try is one of the most beautiful music videos of her career. “Making this video was the most fun I’ve ever had in my entire career,” said Pink. “I never wanted it to end. It’s my favorite video ever.” Pink took to her Twitter page to record her mother, Judith’s, reaction after showing her the risqué dance moves on the clip. “My mom, after seeing the new video… ‘Wow, honey. I’m speechless. And uncomfortable. No one can ever say you play it safe.'” Pink’s love interest is played by Broadway dancer Colt Prattes.


13. The Truth About Love – first number one album (2012)
In the United States, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 281,000 copies in its first week becoming her first number one album there.

12. Lady Marmalade wins a Grammy! (2002)
In 2002, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Mya & Lil’ Kim won the Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for Lady Marmalade.

11. Breaking records in Australia, and a P!nk bathroom (2009)
In 2009, Pink played a total of 58 shows on the Funhouse tour in Australia. 17 of these shows were at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, breaking John Farnham’s record for most shows at the venue during one tour. To congratulate Pink on eleven sold out concerts at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, the artist was given a public toilet located on the upper level of the arena, entitled “P!nk Ladies”.

10. Marriage to Carey Hart (2006)
I wasn’t going to add the personal events to this list, but as a lot of songs are wrote about or for Carey, it only seemed right to include this! In 2005, Pink proposed to Carey Hart during one of his races. In early 2006 they got married in Costa Rica.

9. I’m Not Dead album (2006)
Pink’s ‘comeback’ album was released in April 2006, three years after her last album Try This (2003). The album produced six singles (Stupid Girls, Who Knew, U + Ur Hand, Nobody Knows, Dear Mr President & Leave Me Alone (I’m Lonely)). “It’s about being alive and feisty and not sitting down and shutting up even though people would like you to.”

8. MTV Video Music Awards (2002)
This will forever be my favourite award show that Pink attended. She performed Just Like a Pill, looked like a bad ass, and did that famous “I’m too drunk for this” speech when she won the award for the best female video. In fact it was so good, I’ll post two videos for this one…

7. CoverGirl (2012)
In 2012, Pink became the new face for make up brand CoverGirl.

6. The Grammy Awards 2004
At the 2004 Grammy Awards, Pink won a Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for the 2003 single, Trouble.

5. Pink announces her pregnancy on The Ellen Show (2010)
In November 2010, Pink announced that she was pregnant with her first child on The Ellen Show.

4. The Grammy Awards 2010 – Glitter In The Air Performance
It seemed like the whole world woke up to Pink’s talents when she performed Glitter in the Air at The Grammys in 2010, wearing a bodysuit and doing aerial acrobatics (similar to those of the Funhouse and The Truth About Love tour). The performance was deemed the best of the ceremony, and the audience greeted her with a standing ovation. Because of the success of the performance, it was then released as a digital download single.

3. Breaking more records in Australia on The Truth About Love tour (2013)
Pink broke her own record in Australia in 2013, by playing 18 sold out shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on The Truth About Love tour. She is also the first artist to sell more than 250,000 tickets at the venue. In August 2013, Pink was rewarded a plaque backstage, a second pink pole, a star at the venue’s entrance and Door 18 was painted pink.

2. The Oscars (2014)
The 86th Academy Awards, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, took place in March 2014. Pink performed Over the Rainbow from the film Wizard of Oz.

1. Billboard Woman of the Year (2013)
In 2013, Pink was named Billboard’s Woman of the Year, after one of her most successful era’s to date, after a number one album, successful singles and a worldwide tour. In announcing the award, Bill Werde, Billboard’s editorial director, said, “Pink has almost been in a class by herself among women in music this year, and we’re thrilled to recognize her successes by honoring her with the Billboard Woman of the Year Award.”
