Pink explained on her website that, lyrically, the song is about pleading for reconciliation, and is her favourite song fromFunhouse “because it’s just so naked. It’s like taking a deep breathe and saying, ‘Here I am. Take me. Take your best shot’.” She went on to explain that: “The first thing that comes to my mind with I Don’t Believe You is me standing in the vocal booth listening… Actually in the control room listening to this song, tears running down my face, just like ‘fuck, really?’ It’s the vulnerable weak side of me that I don’t let out very often. And it’s [sighs], yeah it’s that song. And I love it, I love it. I just love it, it’s very near and dear to me.”

I Don’t Believe You is Pink’s single with the lowest peak in the United Kingdom only reaching number 62. It failed to reach the top forty due to physical single was cancelled.

The music video for I Don’t Believe You, directed by Sophie Muller, was shot in September 2009 in Los Angeles, California. The music video premiered on October 2009. The video is in black and white, it features Pink in the wedding dress she wore to her actual wedding to Carey Hart in 2006, and a diamond encrusted wedding gown as she searches for her lover, to no avail. Scenes include her lying down in the dress, rollerblading around what appears to be the inside of a church (The Los Angeles Theater), singing to an empty wedding dinnerroom, crying over an empty wedding album and singing to herself in front of the mirror.

In 2013 I was contacted, along with other fans, by Letters To Pink with information about a project that was being started. Gypsy, a fan in Washington, was putting together a fan project of letters and gifts to Pink from fans all over the world.

She gave fans a step to get their thoughts, feelings and words to Pink. She spend a lot of hours and hard work to put together the book, letters and gifts to give to Pink during the performance.

A few weeks later, Pink tweeted a photo of the book, letters and gifts…

“Wow you gals and guys!!!!! Thank you so so so so much for these amazingly loving gifts and letters”

Gypsy carried on with the project in January 2014 and often did giveaway competitions on her Facebook and twitter pages.

In June 2014, sadly Gypsy passed away. I think I can speak for all fans included in this project by saying we are forever grateful for what Gypsy did for us, we will never forget the kindness she showed us. RIP Gypsy, you will be forever in the hearts of the P!nk family x

On This Day in Pink History… 10th October 2012, Try music video was released

On This Day in Pink History… 10th October 2012, Try music video was released

10-10-12

Try was released as the second single from Pink’s sixth studio album, The Truth About Love.

Pink has described the video as one of the most beautiful music videos of her career. The video was directed by Floria Sigismondi and choreographed by the Golden Boyz and stunt choreographer, Sebastien Stella. It was inspired by the Apache dance, a highly-stylized Parisian street performance. Pink’s partner in the video is Broadway dancer, Colt Prattes, who also joined Pink on The Truth About Love Tour.

“Making this video was the most fun I’ve ever had in my entire career,” said Pink. “I never wanted it to end. It’s my favorite video ever.”

“My mom, after seeing the new video… ‘Wow, honey. I’m speechless. And uncomfortable. No one can ever say you play it safe.”

On This Day in Pink History… 9th October 2001, Get The Party Started was released

On This Day in Pink History… 9th October 2001, Get The Party Started was released

09-10-01

Get The Party Started was the first single released from Pink’s second album, Missundaztood. It was written and produced by Linda Perry.

It reached number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in December, 2001, becoming one of Pink’s biggest solo hits in the U.S. with “Most Girls” also reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2000 and “So What”, “Raise Your Glass”, and “Just Give Me a Reason” reaching number one in 2008, 2010, and 2013 respectively, and “Fuckin’ Perfect” that reached number two in America. It peaked at number two in the UK, where it was narrowly denied the top spot by the posthumous release of George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord”. It reached number-one in Australia and number-two in many European countries most notably Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, being held off from the top position by Shakira’s smash hit “Whenever, Wherever”. “Get the Party Started” was certified gold in Australia, Austria, Germany, France Sweden and Switzerland, and in Norway it received a platinum certification. The song was nominated for aGrammy Award in 2003 in the category of “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance”, which it lost to Norah Jones’s “Don’t Know Why”. It won the award for “Favorite Song” at the Kids’ Choice Awards of 2002, and at the MTV Europe Music Awards of 2002 it won the award for “Best Song”. “Get the Party Started” is often considered one of Pink’s signature songs as she tends to finish her shows with this song in her encore section along with a ballad song such as “Nobody Knows” and “Glitter In The Air”. In December, the song was listed as number 81 on Rolling Stone‘s Top Songs of the 2000s.

The music video was shot by director Dave Meyers in Los Angeles in late September 2001. At 1 minute and 46 seconds into the video, an American Flag is shown, a nod to the September 11 attacks just days earlier. In the video Pink is showering and getting ready to go out, trying on different outfits. One of her friends picks her up, and they drive in a car bobbing their heads to the music. However, the car breaks down. They get out of the car and steal two skateboards from two boys, after which Pink falls off her skateboard because men in a car are whistling at her. The women arrive at the club but are refused entry by the bodyguard, so to get in they use a scaffold to reach the top of the building. Inside the club the bartender is played by Linda Perry. Pink changes her clothes and starts to party, and at the end Pink dances with two other dancers. She takes off her earrings and necklace and gives it to a person. One of the dancers in the video is Kevin Federline. Also seen is Georvohn Lambert; he became a dancer for other R&B artists. The video uses an abbreviated version of the song, cutting out the last chorus, and also cutting out the instrumentals. The video was nominated at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards for “Best Pop Video” and won the awards for “Best Female Video” and “Best Dance Video”.
